Citing and reusing QFT.org

Cite the individual QFT.org page that you used, including its title, address, and the date on which you consulted it. The live site changes as material is corrected and extended; a URL alone does not identify an immutable version.

Use the site’s name as the corporate author unless the page explicitly credits an individual author. For example:

QFT.org. “Canonical quantization and the free scalar.” Accessed 7 September 2026. https://qft.org/start/core/free-scalar-canonical/.

That example points to the actual free-scalar lesson. Replace its title, URL, and access date with those of the page you used. If your citation style supports a section title, include one when it helps locate a particular derivation. Cite a source paper directly when you are relying on its original result, and cite QFT.org when you are using this site’s explanation, calculation, or teaching material.

@misc{qftorg-free-scalar,
author = {{QFT.org}},
title = {Canonical quantization and the free scalar},
howpublished = {\url{https://qft.org/start/core/free-scalar-canonical/}},
note = {Accessed 7 September 2026}
}

No immutable edition or archive identifier is currently offered on this page. Do not invent a version number, publication date, DOI, or human authorship credit. If a page supplies a versioned data file or reproducible calculation, retain its stated version, parameters, code, and checksum with your research notes. A checksum helps identify the bytes used; it is not an archival deposit or a guarantee that a calculation is correct.

Unless a specific item supplies different applicable terms, original QFT.org text, figures, tables, code, and data are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). The site owner adopted this default on 12 September 2026.

You may share and adapt this material, including commercially. Credit QFT.org, preserve any creator and attribution credits supplied with the item, link to the material and the license, and indicate changes. The license remains available to recipients who comply with its terms. It does not imply endorsement of an adaptation.

An explicit different item license takes precedence for that item. For permissions or rights questions, use Send feedback.

Linked papers, books, software, and third-party material retain their own terms. Cite their actual creators and sources. When an authorized adaptation is made, identify the source and explain material changes, especially changes to notation, axes, parameters, or scientific scope.
